Postpartum freezer prep can feel overwhelming, especially when your family isn’t a fan of typical freezer meals like casseroles or lasagna.
I totally understand—my family doesn’t eat traditional freezer meals either!
Here’s how I’m filling my freezer with things my family will happily eat.

How I’m Filling my Freezer Differently This Time

This time I’m focusing on stocking the freezer with ingredients like frozen fruit, butter, or meat that I can use in many ways postpartum.
I’m also cooking and freezing things that taste completely fresh when they come out of the freezer, and I know we will enjoy!
For us these are things like:
✔️ Homemade granola (to eat with milk or yogurt for breakfast or lunch)
✔️ Breakfast muffins (especially great for a ready to go breakfast for the toddlers who wake up so hungry!)
✔️ Homemade pancakes
✔️ Homemade bread
✔️ Homemade mini pot pies (These are one of the foods that tastes great from the freezer! My husband loves them, but the store bought ones are not that healthy, so I made some homemade ones as a treat!)
Postpartum Freezer Prep at the Pace of Life!
Postpartum freezer prep doesn’t have to be an exhausting marathon!
Instead, add small steps into your regular cooking routine. When making muffins, granola, or chicken for your normal weekly meals, simply double the recipe and freeze half!
This easy, incremental approach prevents overwhelm and still sets you up for postpartum success!
Delicious Freezer-Friendly Foods Your Family Will Enjoy
Below are my go-to recipes to use for postpartum freezer prep that freeze wonderfully and I know we will eat!

These are the 6” disposable pie pans I used.
The reheating instructions for the mini chicken pot pies are: “Remove plastic wrap and loosely replace foil, bake at 400F for 30 minutes covered and 15 minutes uncovered.”

Postpartum freezer prep doesn’t have to mean filling your freezer with casseroles no one enjoys!
Postpartum isn’t the best time to experiment with lots of new recipes. Think through what your family gravitates towards naturally and stock up on what you know will freeze well and be eaten!
I hope some of these ideas are useful as you prepare!
